Key points in the design and manufacture of high-efficiency rotary kiln burners
2025-07-04
Damage to the refractory lining of a rotary kiln often affects the continuity of production and is one of the common equipment accidents. The causes of accidents include design structure, refractory material quality, masonry quality, and operation and maintenance. Comprehensive analysis of various lining damage accidents helps to identify common causes, take pre-control measures in advance, and avoid accidents to the greatest extent possible.
01 Common forms of rotary kiln lining damage:
Due to the combined effects of mechanical stress under rotating conditions, material friction, thermal stress, airflow, and chemical erosion, the refractory lining of a rotary kiln often leads to the following problems:
(1) The lifting blocks are twisted, the refractory materials fall off, and the thickness is reduced due to the long-term mechanical rotation, centrifugal force, high temperature, and impact friction of the stones, causing the refractory bricks filling the lifting blocks to deform and fall off.
(2) Melting damage of the high-temperature calcined layer.
(3) The large temperature difference airflow in the kiln causes the dust to be sintered into blocks at high temperatures and adhere to the surface of the refractory material. When the kiln rotates, the separation of gravity causes part of the refractory material to peel off, the brick lining becomes thinner, the kiln temperature increases, and the steel structure changes to varying degrees, reducing the service life of the kiln.
02 Probability of various refractory lining damage
A German refractory technology company has conducted a large number of experimental studies on used refractory materials and has statistically analyzed the probability of the occurrence of the main causes of damage:
(1) Mechanical stress accounts for 37%: caused by kiln body deformation and thermal expansion of bricks.
(2) Chemical erosion accounts for 36%: caused by the erosion of clinker silicate and alkali salts.
(3) Thermal stress accounts for 27%: caused by overheating and thermal shock.
With different kiln types, operations, and lining positions in the kiln, the roles of the above three factors are also different, mainly depending on Rotary kiln burner The ejected flame, the kiln material, and the deformation state of the kiln body during operation, causing the lining to withstand various different stresses.
