1. Composition of Coke Oven Gas

The main components of coke oven gas include carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), hydrogen (H2), and small amounts of nitrogen (N2), oxygen (O2), and water vapor (H2O). In addition, there may be some impurities and solid particles, such as ash, volatiles, and tar.

The calorific value of coke oven gas is generally between 1600 and 2000 kcal/m³, it is a mixed gas, and the combustible components account for about 40%, mainly H2, CH4, and CO. The lower calorific value is generally between 1700-2000 Kcal/Nm³, which is about 25% of the lower calorific value of coal. The ignition temperature is less than 500℃, it can be ignited directly, has excellent combustion performance, and can be used as fuel.

2. Potential Problems of Using Coke Oven Gas as Industrial Fuel

Gas purity issues: Coke oven gas is a mixed gas containing a large amount of carbon dioxide and other impurities, such as sulfides and nitrogen oxides. These impurities will affect combustion efficiency and have a certain impact on the environment. Therefore, before using coke oven gas as industrial fuel, appropriate purification treatment is needed to improve gas purity.

Combustion stability issues: Due to the fluctuation and complexity of the composition of coke oven gas, there may be instability problems during combustion. In order to achieve a stable combustion process, the fuel gas needs to be pre-treated, such as heating and humidification, and strict monitoring and control during the combustion process.

3. Uses and Control Methods of Coke Oven Gas

Mainly used in boilers, dryers, hot air furnaces, incinerators, and other heating equipment. Control systems such as segmented fire type, damper adjustment ratio type, frequency conversion adjustment ratio type, touch screen digital control, and PLC frequency conversion ratio control can be configured according to user requirements.

Gas and damper separate channel control,

1. Operating pressure 10-20kpa

2. Ignition method: Electronic high-voltage ignition. High-power burners are equipped with ignition guns, which are not easy to ignite directly and require the aid of high-calorific value fuels such as natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas to ensure combustion safety.

3. Flame detection method: UV ultraviolet detection, equipped with dual-probe flame detection, flameout protection, automatic ignition, valve leak detection, over-temperature and over-pressure protection, and status parameter display functions.

4. Temperature control method: Using a double electric regulating valve, segmented fire type, damper adjustment ratio type, frequency conversion adjustment ratio type, touch screen digital control, and PLC frequency conversion ratio control systems can be configured according to user requirements.

5. Standard configuration: Explosion-proof blower, explosion-proof electrical cabinet, electronic ignition, UV ultraviolet detection, dual pneumatic quick-cut valve, electric regulating valve, high and low pressure switch, leak alarm, etc.

6. Combustion control system: The coke oven gas combustion system has remote/local ignition operation, ignition indication, flameout alarm and quick-cut protection, high-pressure protection, low-pressure protection, auxiliary air low-pressure protection, leak alarm and interlocking protection.
