Pellet Rotary Kiln

2025-08-30

1. Working Principle

Green pellets undergo drying (300 ~ 600 ℃ ) and preheating (600 ~ 1000 ℃ ) then roasting in an oxidizing atmosphere. During the preheating and roasting stages, reactions such as oxidation of iron oxide, decomposition of limestone, and desulfurization occur. Roasting is the main stage of pellet consolidation. During pellet consolidation, solid-phase reactions and solid-phase sintering play important roles, while liquid-phase sintering only develops under certain conditions. After burning pulverized coal or natural gas from the rotary kiln burner, the roasting temperature of the high-temperature flue gas is 1200 ~ 1300 ℃.

2. Burner Selection

  1. Gas Burner

Fuel: natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, blast furnace gas, coke oven gas, light hydrocarbon gas, etc.;

  1. Oil Burner

Fuel: diesel, methanol, heavy oil, alcohol-based fuels, etc.

  1. Pulverized Coal Burner

Fuel: pulverized coal

Currently, the most commonly used on the market are natural gas burners and Pulverized Coal Burner 。

3. Applicable Industries

In the steel industry, pellet ore and sintered ore have become equally important blast furnace burden , which can together form a better burden structure. It is also applied in non-ferrous metal smelting. .
