Alumina Rotary Kiln

2025-08-30

1. Working Principle

Aluminum hydroxide or bauxite raw materials are fed into the kiln from the kiln tail. Due to the inclination and slow rotation of the cylinder, the material rolls along the circumference while moving axially from the kiln tail (high end) to the kiln head (low end); fuel is injected into the kiln from the kiln head (low end) through the rotary kiln burner for combustion. Heat is transferred to the material through radiation, convection, conduction, and other methods. During the movement, various physical changes and chemical reactions occur, meeting the technical indicators required by the production process. Finally, the material is discharged from the kiln head end and enters the cooler.

Working principle: Achieving crystal transformation by high-temperature calcination of aluminum hydroxide or industrial alumina, where α-alumina requires 1400 desodium treatment at temperatures above Na2O content below 0.1% The introduction of mineralizers can significantly reduce the phase transition temperature.

2. Burner Selection

  1. Gas Burner

Fuel: natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, blast furnace gas, coke oven gas, light hydrocarbon gas, biomass gas, etc.;

  1. Oil Burner

Fuel: diesel, methanol, heavy oil, alcohol-based fuels, etc.

  1. Pulverized Coal Burner

Fuel: pulverized coal

Currently, most in the industry use natural gas burners.

3. Applicable Industries

Calcination of alumina raw materials in fields such as aluminum metal smelting, refractory materials, ceramics, etc.
