Calcium fluoride rotary kiln

1. Working Principle

When calcium fluoride ( CaF2 ) is heated at high temperature ( 1100-1300 ℃) for roasting, it undergoes a redox reaction with oxygen ( O2 ). In this process, the calcium ions in calcium fluoride ( Ca²⁺ ) are oxidized by oxygen to form calcium oxide ( CaO ), while releasing fluoride ions ( F⁻ ). These fluoride ions then combine to form fluorine gas ( F2 ). Therefore, the main products of high-temperature roasting of calcium fluoride are calcium oxide and fluorine gas. The produced calcium oxide and fluorine gas are also important industrial raw materials, which can be used to prepare their chemical products or used as industrial gases. 化学品或作为工业气体使用

Working principle of the calcium fluoride rotary kiln: Calcium fluoride ore raw materials enter the rotary kiln from the kiln tail (high end). The raw materials are evenly fed into the kiln through the feeding system to ensure uniform distribution of materials inside the kiln. As the kiln rotates, the materials move from the kiln tail to the kiln head (low end). Meanwhile, the kiln's lifting plates (also called lifting blades) lift and scatter the materials, increasing the contact area between the materials and rotary kiln burner high-temperature flue gas produced by burning the materials, promoting heat exchange.

The materials gradually heat up during movement, undergoing preheating, calcining, and cooling stages. In the calcining zone, calcium fluoride decomposes at high temperature, removing moisture and impurities to improve product purity. During this process, other chemical reactions may also occur, such as carbonate decomposition. Material discharge: The calcined calcium fluoride is discharged from the kiln head and enters the cooling system for cooling. The cooled product can be further processed or directly used in production. Exhaust gas discharge: Waste gases generated during heating and calcining are discharged through the kiln tail and enter the exhaust gas treatment system for processing to meet environmental protection requirements.

2. Burner Selection

  1. Gas Burner

Fuel: natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, blast furnace gas, coke oven gas, light hydrocarbon gas, and other chemical tail gas fuels;

  1. Oil Burner

Fuel: diesel, methanol, heavy oil, alcohol-based fuels, etc.

  1. Pulverized Coal Burner

Fuel: pulverized coal

Currently used in the industry Pulverized coal burners and natural gas burners are the most common.

3. Applicable Industries

Metallurgical Industry Calcium fluoride, as a flux, can lower the melting point of refractory materials, promote slag fluidity, help separate metal from impurities, and improve smelting efficiency.

Chemical Industry Used to produce hydrofluoric acid, aluminum fluoride, and other fluorochemical raw materials, or as a catalyst in organic synthesis reactions.

Building Materials Industry Used as a flux in glass manufacturing to reduce melting temperature; as a mineralizer in cement production to optimize clinker burning temperature and enhance viscosity.
