1. Working Principle

The crushed bentonite Ore Sent to calcination Rotary kiln In, High-temperature flue gas generated by burning fuel sprayed from the rotary kiln burner ( 800-1000 ℃) for calcination , with specific temperature depending on the properties of bentonite and product requirements. High-temperature calcination can drive off structural water in bentonite, change its crystal structure and physicochemical properties, thereby enhancing its adsorption, catalytic properties, and other performances.

During calcination, parameters such as temperature, time, and atmosphere are strictly controlled. Excessively high temperature or prolonged time may cause over-sintering of bentonite, affecting its performance; while too low temperature or insufficient time may fail to achieve the ideal calcination effect. Meanwhile, a suitable atmosphere is also important, usually calcination is carried out in an oxidative atmosphere to ensure the structural water in bentonite can be fully released.

Rotary kiln working principle: Material enters from the high end and moves axially toward the low end aided by the inclination angle and centrifugal force. The rotation of the cylinder promotes the material to move forward while tumbling, completing processes such as decomposition and calcination. The thermal reaction fuel (such as coal, oil, etc.) burns at the kiln head or inside the kiln producing high-temperature flue gas, which exchanges heat countercurrently with the material. Bentonite undergoes dehydration, decomposition, and other stages at high temperature, finally forming the desired product (such as expanded clay sand). Raw materials: mineral materials mainly composed of clay or claystone, often containing small amounts of feldspar, quartz, calcite, etc.
