  I. Concept and Classification of Natural Gas Burners

A combustion device using natural gas as fuel is called a natural gas burner. It's a common term for natural gas combustion devices in industrial kilns and chemical heating equipment; some also call it a natural gas combustor. Based on the kiln temperature and NOx emissions after combustion in the furnace of the accompanying kiln and other heating equipment, they can also be classified as low-nitrogen burners and non-low-nitrogen burners. Burner Classification:

  1. According to the high and low pressure of natural gas before the burner:

Low-pressure natural gas burner: Natural gas pressure is below 5kpa.

Medium-high pressure natural gas burner: Natural gas pressure is above 5kpa.

  2. According to the shape of the flame:

Direct flame burner: Also known as a long flame burner, the flame is longer, generally used more in kilns, such as burner heat treatment kilns and container annealing furnaces.

Short flame burner: The flame is short and rigid.

Flat flame burner: The flame is close to the furnace wall or furnace top, spraying out in a circular disc shape that extends evenly to the surroundings. Suitable for: mold baking furnaces, forging heating furnaces.

  3. Classified by air supply method:

Self-aspirating burner: The burner does not need external air assistance; its own Venturi structure can draw in outside air, generally with lower burner power.

Air-assisted burner: Relies on a blower to force air for combustion; the blower is usually a high-pressure centrifugal blower.

According to the air-fuel mixing method:

Diffusion burner: The air required for combustion is not premixed with natural gas.

Atmospheric burner: Also known as a semi-premixed natural gas burner. Part of the air required for combustion is mixed with natural gas.

Fully premixed burner: The air required for combustion is premixed with natural gas, generally used in flameless combustion burners.

  4. Classified by energy efficiency: Conventional natural gas burners, regenerative burners, especially regenerative burners are often used in heating furnaces.

  5. Special function classification: It can be divided into various new energy-saving burners such as radiant tube burners, adjustable temperature burners, and low-nitrogen burners.

II. Uses of Natural Gas Burners:

Natural gas burners are commonly used combustion devices in industrial kilns. The performance of natural gas burners will greatly affect the quality of the product. A reasonable natural gas burner should meet the conditions required for kiln combustion, heating, and product processes.

  III. Combustion Process:

The combustion of natural gas generally consists of three processes: mixing of fuel gas and air; heating and ignition of the mixed gas; and combustion of the mixed gas. The condition for stable flame is that the flame propagation speed and the flow speed of the combustible gas mixture are equal in magnitude and opposite in direction.

Stable combustion: If the mixing speed of fuel gas and air exceeds the flame propagation speed, the flame will leave the stable point. Burner flashback: If the mixing speed of fuel gas and air is less than the flame propagation speed, the flame will spray into the burner. Both burner blow-off and flashback are not ideal combustion states for burners. Burners often use a flame stabilization plate structure to achieve a good state.

IV. Principles and Standards for Selecting Natural Gas Burners:

Natural gas burners are a crucial part of modern industrial kilns. The selection of natural gas burners will directly affect the future production of the kilns. A reasonable natural gas burner should fully meet the requirements of the kiln in terms of combustion, heating, and heat transfer, and the burner and kiln must be considered together.

The selection of natural gas burner type and power cannot simply rely on product samples, as insufficiently detailed technical parameters can lead to poor burner selection, often causing many problems during use.

Zhengzhou Zhongwei Environmental Protection Equipment Co., Ltd., relying on years of burner production experience, designs industrial kilns as follows:

  1. Safety principle:

Natural gas burners are also called natural gas guns, spray guns, and fire guns. Their fuel is natural gas (NG). When using any flammable and explosive gas as fuel, safety design must be considered. Zhengzhou Zhongwei Environmental Protection Equipment Co., Ltd. adopts a flame stabilization plate and external mixing burner method in the structure and design of natural gas burners to ensure safety.

Secondly, the design of the natural gas burner control system is very important. The natural gas burner control system draws on the design concepts and experience of excellent manufacturers at home and abroad. It has functions such as self-ignition, flameout alarm, safe gas cutoff, leakage alarm, and safety shutoff.

  2. Applicability principle:

Zhengzhou Zhongwei Environmental Protection Equipment Co., Ltd., relying on years of experience in the design and construction of gas kilns, selects different types of gas burners for different kiln characteristics (heating process characteristics, production characteristics) to ensure the coal-to-gas effect of gas kilns and meet customer production needs.

  3. Economic principle:

After the selection of natural gas burners meets the principles of "safety and applicability," the user's one-time investment and operating costs should be minimized. In this regard, Zhongwei Company has combined with many domestic industrial kiln research institutes and industry energy-saving associations to focus on the research and development of "energy-saving" natural gas burners. In 2017, the third-generation energy-saving natural gas burner was successfully developed domestically and registered under the trademark "Shen Zhi Huo".
