Industrial kiln baking: This involves baking a cold kiln. The masonry undergoes drying, dehydration, and heating stages, bringing the kiln temperature to above 900-1000℃, preparing the kiln for production. Therefore, thermal expansion and contraction between cold and hot states are prominent during the baking process. The quality of baking hinges on how the expansion speed and amount of the masonry are handled during the transition from cold to hot state, ensuring the coke oven is not damaged by expansion. Taking coke oven baking as an example: Coke oven baking is a complex process involving thermal engineering, ironwork, and expansion management. 1. Solid fuel: Coal is preferable for baking, with volatile matter greater than 30%, ash content less than 16%, and ash melting point above 1300℃. Especially when changing to internal stove heating, due to the grate and poor ventilation, the coal size needs to be large, with later use of coal larger than 80mm to ensure normal combustion. Low ash melting point may cause sintering of the fire bed and carbonization chamber wall or slag adhesion to the furnace wall, which should be taken seriously. During solid fuel baking, coke heating is better for the drying stage because the water produced after coke combustion is stable and the combustion time is long, which is beneficial to masonry drying.
2. Liquid fuel: In the initial stage of baking (before 200℃), because the oil consumption is low and the furnace temperature is low, light diesel fuel with low ignition point, low viscosity, good fluidity, and less impurities is used in the initial stage, while heavy diesel fuel or heavy oil is used in the middle and later stages.
3. Gaseous fuel: In recent years, with the large-scale application of natural gas, the advantages of using natural gas for baking have been demonstrated. Natural gas has high calorific value, easy temperature control during the baking process, and good heating capacity. The explosion limit of natural gas is 5%~15%, making it safe to use. Natural gas is a recognized clean energy source, resulting in good overall baking effects. Using LNG for baking has become a better method for industrial kiln baking in recent years.
